Chapter Four

The sunlight streaming in the windows woke Chad the next morning. He swung his legs over the bed and winced at the soreness in his back and ass as he sat up. The prior night’s events came back to him, and he turned around to look for Adam. Beside him, Adam stretched his arms over his head.

Chad leaned over to kiss his mouth, laughing when Adam’s eyes sprang open. “Well, good morning. What was that for?”

“Just a good morning kiss and a thank you for taking care of me last night.”

Adam smiled up at him. “I’ll always take care of you.”

Chad smiled and sat back up on the bedside. Adam’s fingers lightly tracing the marks on his back. “Pretty baby. I can’t wait for old Cal to see these.”

Chad quirked an eyebrow at him. “Possessive much?”

“You better believe it. I like to mark my property.” He scooted up in the bed and leaned back against the headboard. “Do you want to talk about last night?”

Chad turned farther, putting one knee up so he could look at Adam. “Surprisingly, no.” He laughed. “I know, before I would have had lots of drama about it, but I-I think I’m beginning to finally get it.”

Adam tilted his head. “Really? One flogging did that? Damn, I should have had you on the St. Andrew’s cross months ago. Or was it that enema?”

Chad laughed, and Adam leaned forward to kiss him. “Neither.”

“You were amazing last night. I’ve rarely seen anyone sink into subspace so fast.” When Chad continued to gaze serenely at him, he smiled. “You’re still feeling it this morning, aren’t you?”

“Maybe. I feel good. A little sore, but good.”

Adam nodded. “I want to apologize to you, Chad.”

“Apologize? For what?”

“For not being the master you’ve needed these past months. I guess, in a way, I’ve been on an eight month long honeymoon with you. I haven’t been with anyone—like this—in a long time. I spoiled the hell out of you, but that wasn’t what you needed. You needed a firm hand. I let you doubt yourself and feel guilty and ashamed. I failed you, and that stops today.”

Chad reached for Adam’s hand, horrified that Adam would think such a thing. “No, you didn’t fail me. It was my fault.”

“Hush,” Adam said firmly. “No more self-doubts, remember? I was in charge, so it was on me. When we get back home, things will be different.”

Chad shifted nervously. “My-uh-my job sometimes won’t…”

Adam broke in again. “This isn’t about a twenty-four-seven Dominant/sub relationship. We’ve already decided that won’t work for us. That doesn’t mean you don’t need more structure, and that’s what you’re getting from now on. I’ll work out a schedule for you that will include work, exercise, discipline, even sex. We’ll follow it as closely as your work responsibilities allow.”

Chad smiled. “Sounds good.”

“Okay, we start a little today, even though we’re on vacation. First a nice jog on the beach, then a shower and breakfast. Put your swimsuit back on and let’s get started. Later we’ll get dressed and go to the police station.
